Who we are
At Meriden Care, our website address is: http://meridencare.co.uk. For the purposes of the UK GDPR, the Data Controller is Meriden Home Care Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales. If you have any questions about how we handle your data, you can contact us at admin@meridencare.co.uk.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, alongside the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection. Our legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in protecting our website from spam and abuse.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading files that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images hosted on the site.
Cookies
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.
-
Comment Cookies: If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
-
Login Page: If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
-
Active Logins: When you log in, we will set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
-
Publishing: If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos, images, or external articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had directly visited the other website.
These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. This includes tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that external website.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service located outside the UK; where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its associated metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception that they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
Under the UK GDPR, you have several rights regarding your personal data:
-
Right to Access: You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
-
Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
-
Right to Erasure: You can request that we erase any personal data we currently hold (the “right to be forgotten”).
-
Right to Object/Restrict: You can object to our processing of your data or ask us to restrict it.
These rights do not apply to any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@meridencare.co.uk
Complaints
If you believe we have not handled your data in accordance with UK law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). You can contact them at https://ico.org.uk/ or by calling 0303 123 1113.
